Brighton Film School has been relaunched under new management to offer a more extensive range of flexible, competitively priced courses leading to nationally recognised qualifications.
The Film School has been running successful courses for over 10 years and the new owners – Brighton Film Productions - want to build on that foundation and offer a wider range of courses in film production, screenwriting and acting for camera.
The extensive range of film equipment already in the school has been expanded to include a brand new suite of the latest Apple Macs which will be installed with all the latest industry standard software. These new resources will complement the impressive range of existing film equipment in the school, such as the Mitchell Super 35mm camera from Hollywood.
Andrew Green, Chief Executive of Brighton Film School, said: “The School has already become well known in the region over the last 10 years. We now want to make it the best film school in the South East, providing both film and digital training for those who want to work in the British film industry.” The school is offering a BTEC Higher National Certificate/Diploma (HNC/HND), a nationally recognised qualification as a part time evening course or a two-day per week course.
Gary Barber, the Film School’s Head of Development, said: “With the Government’s increase in University fees, the relaunch of the Film School comes at a particularly crucial time, offering greater choice and value for money. Students taking the HNC can undertake the first two years of a degree for £10,000 without being faced with such a crippling lifelong debt.
“Brighton Film School is registered to offer Career Development Loans that are payable once the course is completed. Our courses will give the students both practical skills in camera, sound, editing and production management as well as introducing them to the industry so they are able to work as freelancers in either Film or Television.”
Acclaimed Cinematographer Brian Tufano, whose credits include Trainspotting, Billy Elliot, Shallow Grave, Quadrophenia, East Is East, Kidulthood, will be one of Brighton Film School’s patrons and guest lecturers. During a recent visit to the Film School, he praised the high standard of equipment and teaching support that would be on offer to students.
Local actress and writer, Carol Harrison, whose credits include EastEnders, Human Traffic, The Bill and Brush Strokes, will also be closely involved in the school as its Creative Director, running courses in acting for camera and screenwriting.
The Brighton Film School is located in the Brighton Forum building on Ditchling Road, a central location which is close to public transport links and all city centre amenities.
