Creative Director – Carol Harrison
Carol is one of the UK’s best recognized and highly respected actresses. Carol began her professional career in the early 1970′s working at the cutting edge of new writing in theatre. A founder member of the renowned Half Moon Theatre, she joined the Royal National Theatre Company to work with the legendary Arthur Miller in the highly acclaimed production of Death of a Salesman. She went on to star in Ripen Our Darkness at the Royal Court Theatre, London, The Ascent of Wilberforce Three, at the Lyric Hammersmith, Alfie at the Liverpool Playhouse (directed by Alan Parker), Swaggers, which won the best fringe award.
Carol is probably best known as the exciting, fiery and passionate Louise Raymond in Eastenders. The storyline between her and son in law Grant Mitchell gripped the nation and it was for this storyline that Eastenders won the BAFTA for ” best soap” for the first time. For seven years she played the incorrigible Gloria in the popular series Brushstrokes, and also starred opposite Ray Winstone as sassy Loretta in the comedy series Get Back. She stared as Dorothy in two series of London’s Burning. Her latest TV movie Martha Jac and Sianco for S4C won six BAFTA awards.
Other television work includes the prestigious Play of the Month production of Arnold Wesker’s The Kitchen / Danton’s Death, and Play for Today, Nipper, by Barrie Keefe. She has played guest lead roles in some of Britain’s finest TV shows, including Kavanagh QC, A Touch of Frost, The Bill, Bergerac, and Casualty, to name but a few.
Film credits include Loose Connections, The Elephant Man, Quadrophenia, and the cult hit Human Traffic.
Carol is also an experienced presenter, including strands for This Morning, and has appeared in numerous celebrity reality shows.
Carol is also a professional screenwriter, writing for two series of the soap Gems and various episodes of The Bill. Most recently she has completed Crazy a feature film, presently in development as well as All or Nothing – a Mod musical.
Carol has an MA in screenwriting from the University of Arts and a degree in post compulsory education. She lecturers in Screenwriting and Acting for Camera at Brighton and Hove City College and Brighton Film School where she has recently been made Creative Director.
She is currently associate producer for Alleycats Productions, filming the observational documentary Come On You Seagulls, following Brighton and Hove Albion football club, for channel four.
