Night of film at Brighton Film School graduation screening
Students past and present were joined by friends, family, lecturers and industry professionals at the Sallis Benney Theatre this week for a special screening of student films and a ceremony for students graduation from the Cinematography and Directing Diploma and Filmmaking HNC courses.
An audience of over 200, which included film figures such as the legendary cinematographer Brian Tufano (Billy Elliot, Trainspotting), screenwriter David Scinto (Sexy Beast, 44” Chest, Gangster No.1) and the Bafta winning actress and screenwriter Carol Harrison (Eastenders, Quadrophenia), watched a series of films taken from the class of 2012/13.
These included screenings from the 1st term as new filmmakers, music videos shot for signed acts and their final short films, some of which have already been selected for the Cinecity Film Festival and other festivals across Europe and America.
Head of School Gary Barber commented:
It was lovely to see these short films, which the students have worked so hard on, screened on the big screen and it was a wonderful opportunity for them to have their work critiqued by some of the top professionals in the industry.
We were pleased for the students and impressed with their finished product, at times I have to pinch myself that they are effectively films made by students on a course equivalent to the first year of a degree, and I can’t wait to see what they come up with next year as many progress onto the 2nd year Higher National Diploma.
Following the screening, Brian Tufano and Carol Harrison presented the graduating students with their certificates.
Brighton Film School have a new highlight reel showcasing some of the short films produced in 2012/2013.
