Legendary Producer gives student masterclass

Brighton Film School was delighted to welcome the legendary film Producer, Andrew Macdonald to the school for a masterclass on Producing and filmmaking. The BAFTA winning filmmaker, Andrew Macdonald (Trainspotting, The Beach, 28 Days Later, Last King of Scotland), spoke of his career, the role of the producer, filmmaking tips for short films and the future of the British film industry.

The masterclass was delivered in partnership with Filmmaking HND course leader, Andrea Slater, who has worked alongside Andrew Macdonald as a 2nd Assistant Director on films such as The Beach and the two were able to share their professional practices and stories about their career and working with the Oscar winning director Danny Boyle. A fruitful partnership that helped define British cinema in the 90's.

After the masterclass was delivered, Andrew took some time to speak with the students individually about their career goals and how they can best make use of their time at film school and be the best filmmakers they can be. Some of the hints and tips on casting and audience he gave were invaluable and we thank Andrew for the time he gave to us and Brighton Film School.
