New scholarships and free courses available for Brighton Young Filmmakers
We are delighted to announce that Brighton Film School has been awarded new funding which now allows us to offer FREE places to 14-17 year olds on our Brighton Young Filmmakers class. These scholarships are exclusively available for students who currently live in Moulsecoomb, Bevendean, Coldean and Whitehawk and present an excellent opportunity for young people to get their first taste of filmmaking using the specialist facilities here.
The funding is particularly welcome, as it was awarded to Brighton Film School by the young people of Brighton themselves. As part of The Big Dish Out, an event which saw 15 small businesses and charities pitch to thousands of teenagers how they would use the money, Brighton Film School was voted for as it represented an excellent opportunity young people to make a short film which could enhance their careers and college applications.
There are 30 scholarships available, with start dates in September 2014, January 2015 and April 2015 and these will be awarded on a first come, first served basis to students who apply and confirm their places as long as they reside in either Moulsecoomb, Bevendean, Coldean or Whitehawk.
This course will suit mature individuals who have a passion for some, or all of the filmmaking process. They will have the opportunity to see where their strengths lie by having a go at everything! You may be keen drama students, writers, computer buffs, photographers or organisers or simply curious and about a career in the film industry and looking to earn some early CV points.
