Your personal Clearing Advisor will be by your side to support you in the following areas:

  • Offering guidance throughout the assessment process
  • Arranging a personalised tour of BFS with a film tutor or graduate

How do I secure Priority Clearing?

  • Once you’ve sent us your portfolio work or visited BFS and received a recommendation for the course, you will be part of Priority Clearing
  • Recommendations will be subject to entry criteria being met and a UCAS application being received
  • With Priority Clearing, you will receive a Priority text message on the morning of Clearing (15th August 2019) reminding you to contact BFS on an exclusive number to confirm your place after 15:00.
  • Please note: the exclusive number will only be disclosed to you on results day

Getting Ready For Film School: The Fresher’s Guide

We want to make sure you’re not only clearing ready, but you’re ready for a filmmaking life in September, too. In the meantime, here is how clearing works:

What is clearing?

Clearing is how unis and colleges fill any places they still have on their courses. For us, that means publicising a list of BFS courses which still have vacancies, and for you it’s an ideal way to find another course if you aren’t totally satisfied with the current options you have in front of you.

How long does clearing last?

This year, Brighton Film School’s Clearing will be available from Friday 5th July until Monday 23rd September 2019 (spaces depending). If you already have your exam results, but no offers, you can use Clearing from July. If you’ve had conditional offers, but your exam results didn’t quite go according to plan, you can use Clearing on A Level results day through the UCAS website.

What Brighton Film School courses have clearing vacancies?

BA Hons Film Production

3 year course

UCAS Code = P3W3

Institution Code = B72

BA Film Production top-up degree

1 year course

UCAS Code = P315

Institution Code = B72

What happens next?

Unconditional offers? How to use Clearing

Only unconditional offers can be made through Clearing. For BFS, this means we have to confirm that you’ve met any necessary academic requirements and have a portfolio of work to showcase before we’ll offer you a place.

No offers? How to use Clearing

If you’ve already received your exam results, but haven’t had any offers to date, you can use Clearing from July. Here are the steps you must follow:

1. Make UCAS application
2. Obtain Clearing Number
3. Call BFS on 01273 602070 to provide your Clearing and ID Numbers and to check on places available
4. Submit UCAS application. We will then check your academic qualifications
5. Send portfolio work electronically or visit BFS for a personal tour and show body of work in person
6. BFS unconditional place offered
7. Your place is instantly confirmed

Conditional offers? How to use Clearing

If you’ve had conditional offers, but your exam results aren’t quite as expected, you can use Clearing on A Levels results day (Thursday 15th August). Keep an eye on your UCAS Track and if you become eligible to use Clearing, an ‘Add a Clearing choice’ button will become available in the ‘Your Choices’ section. Here’s what you’ll need to do:

1. Obtain Clearing Number
2. Single choice applicants must top-up their fee to UCAS to £24 (an additional £11)
3. Call BFS on 01273 602070 to provide your Clearing and ID Numbers and to check on places available
4. Submit UCAS application. We will then check your academic qualifications
5. Send portfolio work electronically or visit BFS for a personal tour and show body of work in person
6. BFS unconditional place offered
7. Your place is instantly confirmed
