Director Declan Lowney visits Brighton Film School

Comedic Feature-Film Director, Declan Lowney, visited Brighton Film School this week to provide a Director's masterclass to students on the Filmmaking HND and Cinematography and Directing Diploma.

Lowney, whose credits include Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa, Father Ted and Moon Boy, spoke at length about his career, how he got his big industry breaks, working with acting talent and how to stage stunt sequences.

After the masterclass, he answered students questions and then spent several unscheduled hours working alongside the 1st year Filmmaking HND students, advising them on their end-of-year short films and critiquing the music videos that were shot earlier in the year.

Declan Lowney said afterwards:

Thank you to everyone at Brighton Film School for giving me such a warm welcome and I enjoyed the session a lot! The students and lecturers are a great bunch of people.

Andrea Slater, Course Leader for Filmmaking (1st year) said:

We were delighted to welcome such a great filmmaker as Declan to Brighton Film School so he could share with the students his industry experience. Not only is he a fantastic comedic TV and Film Director, but he also has a super track record in live performance, music videos and advertising.

The students gained a huge amount from the session.

Thanks Declan for your time and generosity!
